Corey Kent Minneapolis Concert reviews
Rock opera at it's best
I decided against Dark Side's tour because I've seen most of the old footage and just wasn't excited. When I heard The Wall was coming - there was no question - I would be there! Corey Kent doesn't try to act it out, even showed himself as a normal rocker having fun on stage with local kids for 'We don't need no education' - very nice touch. Pink isn't a star of this production. It wasn't a rehashed telling of the movie - it reminded me there was an album before the movie and that it can be interpreted many ways. I figured he'd had 30 years to mull over the details and he definitely knew where he wanted this show to go.
He seemed to run through too many long songs as well as solo efforts I can't stand. I was actually getting tired of Corey Kent without Floyd and vice versa. I've seen Corey Kent on all his tours except the last. I didn't give it 5 stars for two reasons. The bigger problem was the venue - Shottenstein Center. I'm sure beforehand they realized the overhead speakers would block the view of the back of the stage by a significant portion of the audience. First is that it was more a theatrical production than for its music. I couldn't see anything on the enormous round screen behind the stage, but luckily my eyes were nearly on the wall itself. I didn't miss Gilmour or the rest of Floyd being there, just there for the show.
If it comes again - I will be there. Don't miss this and go with an open mind.
